The Early days... Part 2

Part 2: DJ Schmolli

So here we go, part 2.

If you think you know about mashups but you don't know about DJ Schmolli, it could only mean 2 things:

a) You live in a cave (and have been for a while)

b) You have already seen his amazing work, but somebody else claimed credit for it. (Bastardos)

DJ Schmolli needs no introduction, he is one of the most talented and recognised mashup producers in the World. He is also one of the absolute kings of the "clash mash".

Now, you'll ask me: "What is the clash mash?"

Well, taking 2 very different sources, from a genre, style, era or even tempo point of view, and majestically blending them into one to make them one.

While a subtle blend of "OMG" and "WTF" will probably get most of your thoughts for the next 10 seconds, you'll quickly surrender to let his superb  craftsmanship and enjoy his tracks as you should be.

His bootlegography is filled with numerous fantastic examples to support this point, and in fact, this particular one below, could fall into this "category".

An extra added bonus with Sir Schmolli, is the ROCK element. It's probably a good idea not to mix too much coffee or energy drinks while listening to his mashups, as the overall blend might be too much to take for some. (yes I am looking out for you ;)

This particular gem below is one of my personal all time top 5 mashups ever, nothing less. If you're not already familiar with it, I won't say anything more, don't want to spoil the surprise for some.

All I will say is that once again, this mashup was another "hey wouldn't be cool to start making mashups?" point for me. So thank you very much Mr Schmolli ;)
